(I might keep writing though.)

I know I've mostly finished this PhD process (bar some substantial days of thesis corrections), but I might keep off-loading a few words here every-so-often....as it's cathartic. And I've still not written my Ode to Polly.

Arise....

....Dr Peat Swamp Forests Cole. Perhaps a bit niche, as most PhDs are, but I am very thankful, and a bit proud to say I have been crowned Dr Cole, with the responsibility to ensure the good health of the tropical peat swamp forests out there. My examiners were wonderful, and although I mumbled through a lot of my viva, and ranted about oil palm for the other half, and certainly didn't show competency in the statistics I used in the most part, and misidentified a pollen grain, drastically mis-interpretting the course of peat swamp forest history, they thought I was competent enough to be entrusted this doctor-hood honour. I am mightilly grateful. And what an enriching experience the whole thing has been. Much like this....

I made it to represent, recreate and share the experience in cake form. Thank you to everyone who shared it with me (though I did eat most of it/am still eating it - breakfast, lunch and dinner). And thank you to my most wonderful family and friends, for mostly everything.

Dr Lyd
